Aquariums By The Sea Inc. designed and installed these two bullet proof aquariums divided by a fish cross over and a bullet proof transaction window. Each are 250 gallons, 60" long x 24" wide x 48" tall, one left angle and one right angle. The fronts of the aquariums and the transaction window is 1 1/4" thick (9 millimeter rated). This was installed for the protection of the employees who handle large amounts of cash and yet creating a point of beauty and interest. The aquarium base, located in the lobby, is designed for housing the aquariums, computers, telephone system and printers, therefore, we had to drill through reinforced floor concrete slabs to run all plumbing and filtration systems downstairs in the boiler room and return back to the aquariums. Due to the fish cross over connecting the two aquariums this became a 500 gallon system with two large wet & dry sumps and two large protein skimmers, 1/2 horse chiller, (bio denitrater no water changes) automatic reverse osmoses unit to take care of the evaporation water and two 4700 gallon per hour Amp Master pumps making this a low maintenance system. The aquariums are going to operate as a Living Reef Eco System. There will be a three piece wood canopy 14" tall to house the four 400 watt 10,000K metal halide lighting system on timers when It Is finished. The aquariums will become a home to a variety of beautiful exotic fish and bottom critters. To make them feel more at home we are adding live rock to create a reef on each end sloping down from the pre/filters into a sandy bottom. The live rock and sand not only Is beautiful but acts as a complete ECO system for a healthy environment.
