Thick,
thicker … and thickest!
Every
aquarium built at ABTS is constructed of acrylic panels thick enough
to withstand continuous water pressure over a long period of years.
The choice of material depends on how much water a customer's tank is
designed to hold. The critical dimension is the tank's height. The water
pressure is much greater at the bottom of a tank that is 30" tall than
that of a tank that is 24" tall.
Our smallest tanks are crafted of 1/2" acrylic. Intermediate sizes and larger models use ¾" - 2" acrylic sheets. (Note: ABTS always
specifies acrylic made in the United States. U.S. acrylic may cost more
than the imported material used by other aquarium builders, but it is
much less likely to bow out, yellow or "craze".)
Shapes
& Sizes
ABTS
routinely builds standard size tanks for direct installation in South
Florida or for delivery anywhere in the world. In this context "standard"
refers to dimensions rather than gallons. Please refer to the price
chart located on the Order Form page for a listing of standard sizes.
Custom
tanks include any length, width or height combinations not listed, as
well as radius corners and geometrical shapes such as cylinders, bubbles,
hexagons flat hexagons and octagons. What unique shape have you been
dreaming about? Give ABTS a call or send us a sketch. Bet we can build
it!
